...But not forgotten

The last little bit has been a real slugfest in terms of assignments and deadlines. I'm through the thick of it though,  so I thought I'd remind the world that I haven't quite disappeared in a puff of smoke. Here's a second mock up of a scene I'm presently working on for my film, it's not quite where I want it to be, but it's a start.

 A colleague noted that the colours are a little too aggressive for the overall mood, so if I find the time I'll be amending this post with a retouched version.

Progress report

It's been long enough I figure, I should go over what's done, if just for myself. These are some of my in-progress backgrounds and a page from my design pack. Aside from this I'm working on the rough poses for the film and a final timed leica. Hopefully I'll have that done around next weekend.

I can't believe how much I like the new version from Nickelodeon.

They're all pretty adorable, but Mikey is something else. Probably a huge film dump is on the way.

Wreck it up

So I got to see wreck it ralph along with rise of the guardians in recent history, super fun times for both outings. Considering the number of layouts I have to do for this film you'd think I'd be a reclusive cat lady by now. Anywho, I highly recommend wreck it ralph to anyone and everyone, guardians may or may not be your cup of tea.

Colours part 1

First set of colour keys for my film, and also some adventure time stuff during my sparer moments ( I was strong armed into throwing it up : I ) colour keys are, as in their nature, subject to change.

Haaaalllooooweeeeeeen is over

 I drew this up during class yesterday ( I come off as a terrible student in these.. I'm not I swear!) Ada & other Ada were prob my fav characters from the new resident evil game. I won't spoil anything but every line of dialogue from either one of them was dripping with this sultry tone and as punny as possible. The giant crossbow and the 'we're in a zombie movie' genre savvyness won them some points too.

Still can't figure out why she's such a big deal though.

I designed this pumpkin after the doberman puppy that lives down the hall, and my roommate carved it. The puppy ate a lightbulb recently but is apparently ok.

Halloween goblins

I was going to post it earlier, but I figure Halloween is a cooler excuse to do so, plus now it's like a topical joke. I also have a turnaround and a 3d model of him, but the latter isn't quite finished, so those will have to wait.

maybe ( most likely) longer since I've posted anything, bad form considering I'm trying to be consistent nowadays. Anyways, this is like a preliminary mock-up for my film, I haven't quite decided what I want it to look like but I think I'm on the right track. Totally open to any suggestions/comments by the way!

.Dolores prototypes

I came up with her over the summer actually, for a game pitch I had going. Now's not really the time to share, but I will say a dismantled fembot protagonist and feminist undertones contrast pretty well. Lost the image like 3 times, ended up having to printscreen the bastard. More to come eventually

A quick experiment in planes, I don't know how well it worked out, personally I'm not too satisfied but I'm also sporting a raging fever. Done while watching scooby doo and buffy : D can you tell?

Dry spell

cause I spent the week storyboarding (blegh) and replaying skyrim while being sick. Have some sketches now that life is good again.

Pitch package

I pitched my film idea today and it went over pretty well. Some nice support from my peers and the go-ahead from my mentor means that I'm on to making a working board. I'll probably change the designs here before the week is done mind you.

Dooodles

It feels like it's been awhile since I last posted anything, but then it's been awhile since I've had a moment to sit down and make something... Technically, that moment never came, but I managed to doodle a few things up during some of my less engaging classes.

 So me and my roommate recently finished watching Buffy season one ( I'd never seen it) and the master was so lovably effeminate especially compared to all his bro henchmen, I thought I owed it to the short lived vampire king.

No tablet available, so I thought I'd try my hand at drawing with a mouse : 0 Turned out pretty predictably lol

Film stuff

 I haven't quite decided if this will be my thesis film yet, but I wasn't having a good time with my other ideas and thought I'd do up some concepts to give me a better grasp of the situation. It'll be a house made out of animals; quaint right?

Some old work for one of my film ideas from last year, a caricature of Bobby Chiu ( he signed it for me after : > ) aand a random kimbra doodle. I feel like I've been ignoring my composition and colour related studies lately, I'll try to work on that for abit I think.

First day back

..And it was fun, especially lifedrawing. I've really missed the structure of school this summer ( I'll miss the free time though) On another note, I've been insanely lazy on posting some sketches, despite saying I wanted to, so there! The bull is extra.. dunno what that's even about.

Fanexpo

Went to Fan expo today with my friend Domee, and while I didn't enjoy the hour and a half long line, or hearing they were out of tickets when I got to the front, or the next hour and a half long line after they were back in stock, I had a pretty good time. Got to meet (bother) some cool artists like Scott Forbes, Alina Urusov, Esad Ribic etc and chat with peeps from or related to school. There was also a large number of other awesome artists (Domee included) who really inspired me to try and work harder at polishing my own stuff.The Day ended with me, Domee, and Jiin Park splitting sea bass and gelato.

Diego Brando

So a few weeks ago I heard about Jojo's bizarre adventures: all star battle. When I was a kid, I played the barely translated jojo's bizarre adventure game for dreamcast and loved it enough to read the series, and now I'm overjoyed to hear of it's return to consoledom. In excitement I read steel ball run and tots enjoyed it, more hasty fanart is likely to come.

Diego was the perfect foil, and couldn't be more 'fabulous' if he tried

Fiddler

Despite it's volatile appearance, the suit is made for repairing things while in harsh atmospheres. Named for it's main inspiration, the fiddler crab!


So I had some time to kill after getting back from a decent workout, so I doodled this up before going to bed. I think I'll try to post more pencil sketches in the near future.
